Feeding the fish

I snorkeled the other day at Las Gatas. There were more fish, and a greater variety, than I've seen in previous excursions. I also saw a medium size turtle, which I followed for a while. That was the first time I'd ever seen one while snorkeling. Rather than feeding fish crackers, I like to turn rocks over, which the fish seem to appreciate.

Please don't turn rocks over or disturb them. There may be eggs or something hiding under them. When in the water you are in someone else's home, and you shouldn't touch anything. I used to be a snorkeling guide at Buck Island National Park in the USVI, and frankly I've never understood why folks have to touch everything or feed the fish, but when I come by your house I'll be sure to toss you some algae and flip your furniture over and see how you like it. ;)
