A Day In Zih Life

I thought some of you might enjoy seeing me refill our tinacos, a chore I've been doing around three times a week since just before Christmas when it seems all of a sudden downtown Zihuatanejo stopped getting a regular supply of water, and when the water does come it lacks pressure. Only twice since Christmas have we received water via the normal infrastructure. Three and sometimes four times a week I've been hauling out our trusty rustic homemade ladder made over 25 years ago from wood scraps with a couple of minor modifications since then, I throw a rope down from our azotea to the pipa, he ties it off on their large hose, I haul up enough of their hose to reach our two tinacos another level up, scramble up the ladder, Lupita passes me the hose, and I fill our two tinacos and a tambo we use for that little bit extra water that often gets us through the dry spells. We've got it down to a fine art. The only real trick is getting the attention of the man in charge of the pipa so that at our signal he turns off the pump when the second tinaco fills because sometimes they get distracted and aren't paying attention. B-)

Captains and regulars hanging out on the pier as the sun breaks over the hills surrounding Zihuatanejo Bay.

This morning's resplandor del amanecer didn't disappoint. Good to see folks out enjoying the morning magic! ¡Viva Zihuatanejo!
