Legalize Pot in Tourist Areas

I absolutely think that marijuana and most other recreational drugs should be decriminalized and regulated. Prohibition does not work, has never worked and should be thrown on the scrap heap of bad ideas that we tried and proved doesn't work. It didn't work with alcohol, opium or any other substance. The only thing it does is create a space for organized crime to step in and profit from the misery and illness of those who are susceptible to the addiction. Did you know that states within the U.S. that have legalized marijuana, like Washington and Colorado, have declining problems with opioid overdoses?

Other countries such as Portugal have shown that treating addiction for the minority of the population that is susceptible to addiction while decriminalizing drug usage actually saves lives and takes power from criminal organizations. Even within the U.S. we have prime examples in the form of smoking and alcohol. Smoking has not declined because it is illegal, but because the U.S. pursued education and regulation.
