Back In The Zih Life Again

On our morning walk today my wife and I were pleasantly surprised to see that one of the broken benches on the downtown waterfront walkway had been repaired and painted blue. Whoever repaired it has our sincere gratitude. Hopefully the public won't abuse and break it but help care for it as if it were their own.

We were also very pleasantly surprised to see our policía municipal patrolling the waterfront and running off the drunks sleeping in various public places. They said that the mayor, our friend and local son Homero Rodriguez, sent them. Even though they are extremely reduced in number, because they are locals they know the area and understand our problems, and their mere presence makes a huge difference for us. We are extremely grateful to have our local police back along the waterfront and the primer cuadro. Not knocking the state and federal police or the military because we appreciate their presence very much too, but they aren't from here and they don't know our area as well as our local police. Almost immediately after the municipal police showed up the vagabundos wandered off. No fuss. No muss.

This is a relatively new mural that was painted on the beach side of a storage shed. It depicts the Aztec god of rain Tlaloc, a rather fearsome figure in Aztec lore.

The view of the sunrise from the pier this morning.

These guys know where to hang out to get some free fish.
