Down By The Zih Shore

The gobernador says the new pier is scheduled to start construction in July, just in time for the hurricane season. Says he has 125 million pesos set aside for the construction, and he'll release the first 50 as soon as he can to whomever wins the licitación. While I'd like to be hopeful and see it go according to plan, being an election year and during hurricane season makes me think the money set aside will run out before the project is finished, like the repaving of the road to La Ropa did and like the repaving of the road around Las Salinas Lagoon did, both projects overseen by the state. The La Ropa road still isn't technically finished. Street lights still need to be installed but no one seems to be able to find the money even though it WAS there at some point.

We're enjoying our strolls along the pier while we can, because once they knock it down who knows when we'll have another? And from the diagrams I've seen it won't be as open and simple as what we have but a roofed affair with way too much cement, meaning it will probably be hot most of the time as all that cement will retain heat and cut down the breeze.

Hola, Sr. Garza.

A sunrise to love.
