Ride Sharing in Zihuatanejo?

We've never used Uber, or any ride-sharing service, but isn't the very existence of these services based on the premise that they can seriously undercut the cost of services provided by local taxis?

We've all wondered how Zihua taxis make any money at all, given their over-abundance and the fact that gasoline prices in Mexico are so high, (basically the same as they are in Canada, i.e. much higher than in the USA).

So, with high gasoline prices, and 'way too many taxis as it is, how much lower can the price of a ride in Centro go, beyond the current 30 pesos?
