It's not just the dry season, and the off season, being an election year it's also the INVASION SEASON. So besides the usual burning to clear land for planting maize, there are also fires from folks clearing land that politicians will promise them title to in exchange for their votes (and they'll all be expecting the nice foreigners to help them with their schools). Yesterday one intentionally set fire near the Colonia del Ejido almost reached several residences before firefighters were able to extinguish it. A much larger fire swept up the hillside near Agua de Correa. The smoke during the night and this morning was quite unpleasant, but we ain't seen nothin' yet. We can expect at least another month or more of this until the rains come. So if you have respiratory difficulties keep your oxygen tank handy because you're going to need it.

BIG fire near Agua de Correa blazing up the hillside seen from the pier.

On our way back home from our stroll to the pier last evening we saw basketball players painting the court at the Cancha Municipal.

The finished product this morning looked pretty good!
