Bad Bud in Zih

All up and down the coast of Guerrero high surf and winds from Hurricane Bud left a wake of destruction. From Petacalco to the Costa Chica damage is being reported. A reminder how fortunate we are in Zihuatanejo for our sheltered bay. Though we suffered some damage including downed trees, shredded billboards, tumped palapas and a smashed sailboat, it is nothing compared to what happened to communities, residences and establishments on beaches exposed to the open ocean.

Sad to see the sea turtle egg incubation pen smashed up. First time I've seen it so badly damaged. And it looks like someone recently painted over the mural that was right next to it. Most of the trash was already removed from the beach. It was a LOT.

Fishermen have been unable to leave port for the past 3 or 4 days, and their pangas have been as bunched up as they can get them. They now invade the beach past Daniel's Restaurant, which lots of us hope isn't allowed to continue.
