Voting Questions

The Yucatan Times has an example of a Presidential ballot on Facebook today, and it shows that one could vote for Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador under one of three different party names, the same for Jose Antonio Meade and for Ricardo Anaya Cortes. Very confusing.

It’s how the parties get away with justifying their existence so they receive billions of pesos and are allowed to have plurinominales in the Cámara de Diputados and the Senado. Plurinominales are “apportioned representatives” named by the parties who don’t have to win by election. Yes, it’s a scam and very antidemocratic but it’s how the parties maintain their hold on power and protect their interests.

You can’t simply vote for a candidate without a party except for the independientes.
