Zih Calm Before...

We've got moderate rains predicted today as the remnants of Hurricane Fabio head out to sea and another tropical wave heads this way, but it's currently a beautiful sunny day out. It's also the last few days before the summer vacation gets under way, so its especially peaceful right now with hardly a soul about. The best time of the year! For those of us who live here it's the calm before the storm. Summer vacation means busloads of folks will soon be arriving, and wherever there are throngs of tourists, there are other things too, like noise and trash, but hopefully there will also be some folks shopping in local stores and buying more than cheap trinkets, though each it seems our summer tourists are folks with less and less purchasing power. Hopefully this year will be better than last.

A typical tranquil day on the waterfront of downtown Zihuatanejo, far from the maddening crowds.
