Worthless barrage? It is part of the cultural tradition of the place you have chosen to live. Most complainers are just worried about their "fur babies"

Many of my Mexican friends and acquaintances also complain about the explosions. Even those who don't have dogs. A few years ago, I was invited to participate in a Posada by a friend who was the manager of the Hotel Irma at the time. She specified no pyrotechnics for the participants (mostly employees of the hotel). Everyone carried candles and sang. It was a beautiful -- and dare I say -- "traditional" posada.

Big cultural difference with different traditions (including fireworks) between the peregrinaciones de Día de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe and a posada.

Katherine may be confusing posada with pilgrimage. We don't march and sing at posadas.
