Arranca el Día en Zih

Hardly a soul showed up to view the Día del Trabajo parade. Our streets were empty of spectators. All our favorite hotel and restaurant workers marched, all the taxi and bus drivers, workers at exclusive projects like Porto Ixtapa. Even the Mariachi Los Torcazos. But I could count the number of spectators within two blocks without even using all my fingers. Oh well, saw a bunch of old friends and cheered on a bunch of workers enjoying a day off. I've always worked on Labor Day and Día del Trabajo here and in the States.

The city workers drove by at 1:00 in the morning first collecting garbage then washing the areas where people place their garbage using detergent and a water tanker truck aka pipa. Rather noisy, especially when they started yelling cuss words, but hey, at least they cleaned up all the accumulated mugre.

So we're all wondering if we should have a big wing-ding on the pier to celebrate the end of the Muelle Municipal so that on Monday morning when the workers arrive to begin demolition they find us all staggering around ripped out of our minds teary eyed and hugging parts of the old pier. Whaddaya think? :snicker:

Looks like the painted the spot where the burger stand sets up every night. It was getting pretty black and slick from all the years of grease splattering.
