My family and I wish to express our sincerest gratitude to the owners and staff at La Porteña restaurant on the waterfront in downtown Zihuatanejo for their gracious attention yesterday for Día de las Madres. What an enjoyable experience we had, and from the looks on the faces of the other diners it appears we weren't the only ones.

Plaza del Pescador in front of La Porteña restaurant has been remodeled, and looks much better without all the rocks. A ramp was installed to facilitate access to the beach.

Watching folks embark from the beach to go to Playa Las Gatas it's obvious that as long as the ocean's calm there isn't much to worry about. But rainy season is coming as well as episodes of mar de fondo, both of which mean large waves are possible, and folks could have difficulty, especially folks with mobility issues.

Plaza del Pescador just got a new paint job, and only the benches await replacing. We think it looks much better.

This is where pangas will be loading and unloading passengers for the time being until the new pier is built. The ramp was built around a palm tree. Very cool. In the old days the tree would've been cut down.

Someone carefully balanced rocks to make cairns at the eastern end of Paseo del Pescador in La Madera. I wonder how long they'll last?
