My understanding is that you need to have temporary residency or permanent residency to work in Mexico and to get that there are fairly strict rules around that. The Mexican consulate will explain all that to you, your need for monthly income or independent wealth or property ownership etc. It is not as simple as just moving there and not coming back also think about medical coverage although I imagine you are pretty healthy at your age. Just a bit of info for you to check out and think about, but we totally understand your desire to be there.

That's exactly how simple it was for me 30 years ago. Thanks much to my amazing wife and our wonderful friends in the right places.

No, don't get sick here. This is not a place to count on 911 emergency services or even adequate medical care. Our local hospital is remindful of something straight out of the 19th century. We may have internet, but we are mostly at least 50 years behind the rest of the "modern" world in most everything else. Just the way I like it. B-)
