Día de la Marina & Zih Rains

For some unknown reason the local Sector Naval broke with over 40 years of tradition and did not celebrate Día de la Marina publicly with local fishermen and residents. No explanation why. Boats and residents were all dolled up in bright colors to go lay wreaths and flowers at La Piedra Solitaria alongside local navy vessels in honor of fallen sailors, an event usually accompanied by lots of folks throwing buckets and balloons of water from boat to boat, but the Sector Naval instead apparently had some kind of private event. Oh well, possibly because of the mar de fondo and lack of a pier they didn't want anyone to take any risks.

The rains are here, though the big storm that moved up the coast from Acapulco last night fizzled right as it got to Zihuatanejo's bay. but it's just a matter of time. The prevailing winds have changed, and tropical winds are blowing out of the southeast. Everything changed rather quickly from mild days with relatively cool nights to hot and humid most of the day and night. Now we just need a few good soaker rains to turn the hillsides green again. Let the magic begin!

These two lovely women are very grateful for your donations that help them to see better.

Nothing beats the view from the Hotel Catalina! Especially while enjoying a delicious breakfast.
