Even though Tormenta Tropical "Alvin" formed up practically right on top of us, we barely got any rain. Just a light rain the night before last, just enough to break the heat a bit. Día de Sa Juan is traditionally known for being a day of abundant rains, but our part of the coast appears to be sala'o. Maybe the next tropical wave...

The pier work has passed to the next phase. A special machine on a floating platform will be used to remove what they can of the old pilings, the idea being to leave as little debris as possible, then new pilings will be set on which the new pier will be built.

Friends and neighbors of Owen are planning a celebration of his life. I'll let y'all know when details are in place.

Yesterday remained mostly cloudy keeping the temps down and making for comfy sleeping last night. It was an absolutely perfect evening in Zihuatanejo for strolling the waterfront, enjoying a cold beverage, taking in a basketball game or just people watching and taking in the scenery. An evening that underscored what an enchanting tropical paradise we live in.

A woman was posing for her husband to take her picture on the beach at dusk. Hope she doesn't mind we snuck one, too.

Guerrero's gober precioso was here yesterday to inaugurate the new part of the Escuela Primaria "Vicente Guerrero." Not sure why they repainted it hot pink, but I have yet to find anyone who likes it, though I'm sure the paint company is thrilled with the government contract.
