Zih After The Storm

About 01:30 this morning Zihuatanejo was hit by a major thunderstorm with lightning like we rarely ever see here, though I used to see plenty of it just like this when I lived in central Florida in Orlando and Titusville. It's been years since we had a lightning storm of any intensity, and this morning's was about as bad as it gets. It had us running through the house disconnecting appliances, pretty much everything except one fan in our bedroom. It was one of those torrential downpours that can cause severe flooding, so we had to be vigilant, in other words, we didn't get to sleep from 01:30 until 04:30. The flooding never occurred on our street as it has with similarly intense rains in years past, so that was one bullet we dodged, and the lightning struck pretty darn close many times but never hit us, so that was another.

Were any of you affected by the storm?

So when I went to the beach this morning I was surprised and extremely impressed to see the beach (as well as the bay) looking extremely clean and the sand was drying out nicely. I could also hear a piledriver in the distance though I couldn't see it, so that means the new pilings are being set.

There was also an event being set up for children on the beach in front of Plaza del Artista by the municipal DIF.
