Re: ..."If you refuse to believe nothing happened, doesn't mean it didn't. I guess when you live so close to the beach, it's easy to keep your head in the sand. Sure, more than likely it was an isolate incident directed at a specific person for a specific reason. That doesn't mean the public, be it locals, tourist or future tourists should not be informed of what is happening there."

It appears that discussion of this case got unnecessarily mean-spirited.

I suspect what the original post of Jack, and of Connie were wondering about, was the "who-what-where-when-how-why" of the incident. As simple as that.
By nature, most people are curious, and do want to know what happened, which is, I.M.O., neither out of the ordinary nor should be considered to be a "morbid" curiosity.

Though on the other hand, at least my perception is that I don't think this website is for dealing with la "nota roja".
As was mentioned......"That's what the police section of our newspapers are for."

Some board users may choose to use Rob as a source, as he is one of the most knowledgeable people when it comes to Z information.

So, yes, on one hand, "the public, be it locals, tourists or future tourists" should be informed of what is happening, but on the other hand, maybe that information, at least in these types of incidents, would be best obtained from news sources who's business is to report on incidents such as this unfortunate case.

A suggestion for an option to replying to a user when another crime occurs, a "form letter" type reply such as:

On this website it is not our business to deal with la "nota roja". Please refer to one of the local newspapers, or other news sources for further information......

seems to me would be a "kinder & gentler" neutral way of responding to inquires about criminal activity in Z.
