From Zih to Shining Sea

So about 8:30 this morning I hear a dog whimpering, but I'm busy working so I didn't think much of it. I hear lots of noises that I simply can't always respond to living downtown. Then my wife calls from the mercado where she's gone to buy fresh fruit and says a neighbor called her to say a small white dog was crying at our door. What? So I go to the front door and sure enough there's Blanquita, all excited to see me. She jumped into the house like she owned the place, I gave her some water, checked her over, and then she joined me in my office and began to fall asleep beside me on the floor, turning down the couch I offered her where Lola used to accompany me. I alerted her new owners that I'd found her. Turns out she panicked during last evening's thunderstorm and escaped from her luxury lodging at Xiguacán. The owners had spent all night searching frantically for her. Within 5 minutes of my notifying them they were at our front door, and Blanquita was all happy to be in their arms once again. We couldn't believe that she found her way to our home! Incredible!

The rain last night was delicious and made for great sleeping weather, but Lupita was at Coppel when the deluge hit, and she said the streets instantly turned into raging torrents that people were afraid to cross. .

This morning the Flexifloat was still on the beach but now with a huge crane on top. Must've been neat watching them get the crane loaded on it. Too bad I missed that.

We wanted to buy fresh fish this morning but we weren't sure if the fishermen had gone out due to the storm. Turned out some certainly had, and we got some great fillets I'm heading upstairs to eat in just a few minutes. Here come the fishermen racing to the beach with their overnight catch. Watch out for the pelicans! Zoom zoom zoom!
