Another delay with the pier construction. The Flexifloat cracked or split in half. Not sure if they were just talking about bent metal or fissures. I suspect the crane sitting on it while beached and bouncing up and down in the waves didn't help. Hope they fix it soon, but I'm not looking forward to hearing a poliedriver all day and all night for the next several months. Folks in El Almacén neighborhood are really going to have a rough go of it trying to sleep.

Hard to believe we live in a town, especially one that depends on tourism, where if a bar breaks the laws and blasts their music all night long affecting neighbors for blocks around and stays open more hours than the law allows, phone calls to the police are useless. No patrols or local authority of any kind will pass by checking for violations proactively or otherwise. The police WILL NOT COME TO ENFORCE THE LAW if you call them. The nearby tourists and residents have to just suck it up. Supposedly for the government to even act a citizen must take the time to go to the city hall during office hours (forget weekends when the problem is worse), present the correct paperwork and then hope the government will act. I know of no other place in the world where this is the way things are done. It's as though the government intentionally puts obstacles in the way of enforcing its own laws. One can only guess the reasons.

Though there was lightning visible to the west and northeast last night, not a drop of rain, but at least the cloudy day yesterday kept the temps down and once again made for perfect sleeping weather.

Some friends recently returned from La Montaña region of Guerrero and brought us a wonderful gift from that region. Man, that was really nice of them! We'll be giving this a try very soon. This is to be sipped appreciatively like fine cognac.

Despite the presence of nearby storms, we watched fishermen heading out last night and then arriving at dawn this morning, and they were doing a brisk business at the mercado de los pescadores.
