Safety

I have come to this conversation late, but I have enjoyed all the back and forth. Having traveled in a lot of places around the world that sound scary , I agree that "trust but verify" is a good policy. The same things that would get me in trouble in Zihuatanejo would get me in trouble in Denver. Who gets drunk and walks by themselves in lonely areas of the city at 2AM ,anywhere.?Who tries to sell or buy drugs or guns illegally? It upsets me when I talk to locals who have been extorted or intimidated, and if I could do something to help I would.Suggestions? For me , the best thing, I think, I can do is to keep coming to Mexico and spending my money at the legitimate businesses there, and encouraging my friends to do so too.
