Noise pollution

One of my favourite experiences on la ropa (at the Catalina ) is to sit out on the balcony, watch the stars and listen to the magnificent ocean singing, a few gekoes gekking and the cicadas chirping . In the past there would be a wandering minstrel or two adding their harmonies to the evening.
Now there is a cafe on the beach that has a plugged in band with amplifiers broadcasting their wretched oldie mouldy music all over the beach. I say unplug and let those who are interested go to the restaurant to hear it but why must everyone else be subjected to this noise?
I can only hope this will end at 9
Oh apparently not ok let’s hope for ten.
Buenas nochas and happy quiet star gazing.
If one must have an amplifier why not write your own music?
Oh never mind

Totally agree with you. The beach is for listening to the waves and the wandering musicians with their guitars.

Please express your concerns to the good folks at the hotel Catalina. Hopefully they can ask the restaurant to tone it down a bit. Unfortunately a short ways down the beach the Thompson hotel is one of the hotels promoting DJ techno music on the beach, so perhaps other businesses think this is something that foreign tourists enjoy and seek on their vacations.

You make a comment: "Being of a certain age I find listening to music from the past tedious and annoying. Much rather listen to a talented mariachi band playing and singing Mexican songs."

For Mexicans, mariachi music is "old music". Just to keep things in perspective. B-)
Saludos.
