ZIHing Red -- the Mormon tragedy

This Trump threat is directly connected to the recent massacre of several Mormon women and children in the north of Mexico. The USA Mormon lobby has since leaned on ultra-conservative Republicans to "do something" vis-a-vis the Mexican cartels responsible for the killings. Trump´s comments throw GOP bottomfeeders a distracting bone to chew on. Probably he´s just fending off his right wing. For now...

Still, we wouldn´t bet even a sliver of the next pension cheque on Trump NOT ordering, say, a drone strike on a "narco target" within Mexico. This would apparently be legally justifiable should Mexican cartels be branded "terrorist organizations" by the US government.

What would be the Mexican reaction if such a strike were successful, and decapitated a major drug cartel?

This has been the topic of much discussion here in Mexico, including on last evening's program "Tercer Grado" on Televisa, an excellent forum with Mexican intellectuals and journalists. Lots of Mexicans in the social media are trying to blame the LeBarón family for this, but the evidence says otherwise. It's a threat The Chump has been making for a couple of years, and we all recall how just before the last mid-term elections he sent troops to the border to "stop the invading hordes" on a dud mission where they had no jurisdiction (further demonstrating his total lack of respect for the military). Absolutely no one has provided any evidence whatsoever that the LaBarón killings had anything to do with any narcos. We already had that discussion here recently.

Mexico's government is confident that this is, as you say, red meat for the bottom feeders, a campaign stunt, and that the situation can be contained because the U.S. government has no intention of doing anything stupid that would poison the waters between our nations. Mexico especially under the current government would not tolerate any of the shenanigans that violate Mexico's sovereignty. Like I said, if the USA wants to act responsibly then it can stop selling firearms to straw buyers for organized criminals and stop denying its own citizens legal access to recreational substances that tens of millions of them want to consume regularly.
