Zih Blues, Reds, Greens and Yellows

We have come to Zihua for 40 years and retired and constructed a home here 5 years ago. My take has always been that Mexican families have their official holidays during Semana Santa (this year April 6-17) and Christmas holidays. We avoid the holiday traffic by stocking up on food/alcohol and settling in at home. Plus, we have little dogs (Westies) who are terrified of fireworks.

This year, I was fortunate to walk La Ropa Beach 7:30 am daily from Dec. 16-Jan. 6 with a Mexican neighbor who visited Zihua from Mexico City. We both felt the excitement of the families, many of whom had never seen the ocean. We were fortunate this year to see foreigners and city workers picking up beach trash.

My wish is for the tour bus organizers to explain to their passengers to not throw trash, nor poo or pee on the beach. This should be a city ordinance.

I agree with Rob in that the Ixtapa commercial businesses have suffered with the increase of "mandatory" all-inclusive hotels that should instead offer "optional" all-inclusive" hotels. This may fall under the Ixtapa hotel association (ROB?) in coordination of the city's tourism personnel.
