Stay Away from Sun Wing Charter Airline

Some of you may have read about my daughters flight down with Sun Wing out of Toronto. To reiterate the flight was posted for an earlier time then original so she w0uld arrive mid afternoon not evening. The flight took off from Toronto but immediately landed in Windsor to fill up the plane with fuel that is just over an hour flight. Why we will probably never know. Retired flyboy buddies find it very strange.

On the return journey the Sun Wing flight was to drop passengers in Z pick up some ie my daughter then head over to Cabo to do the same. We had already left for Oaxaca via Mexico so she kept us updated first from Embarc then from the airport. She checked in well in advance and just afterwards there was a notice that the flight was delayed. It turned out to be 4 hours behind schedule and to add insult to injury the airport ran out of food. I guess they haven't heard of Uber Eats out there and once you are on the inside you cant order takeout.

Hopefullly with the new airline rules in Canada she will get compensation and not a free flight with them

So you want people to avoid this airline because the flight was 4 hours late? Do you know WHY it was late? Were they masturbating in the bathroom and generally dicking around or was there an equipment failure, a weather event, an unexpected emergency (passengers sometimes have them)?

Airports are busy and dangerous places, and lots of people take their work very seriously in order to avoid accidents like wars and causing passenger planes to get shot out of the sky in sick political stunts. You know. Might you be being a bit harsh on the airlines, or am I missing some important information here?

Don't know what they were doing Rob and don't really give a crap. They knew they were leaving 4 hours behind schedule but did not think to send out a message to the passengers so they could have that extra beer around the pool rather than dicking around the airport.

And yes we do have a bill of passenger rights now in Canada and yes they broke the rules. I am well aware of safety issues and delays with aircraft and airport howeverf why would anyone read a review of a restaurant or a car delearship or an airline if it was not to find out what the customer experience has been in the past.

You lost my sympathy with the “don’t really give a crap” part. I have a fundamental difference of opinion with that kind of attitude, which seems unnecessary and arrogant. But then I’m the kind of person who would prefer not to see people get killed trying to meet arbitrary deadlines.

I am in Oaxaca writing on a message board in Zihu and right after this message is posted Sue in Eugene, Bob in Ankorage, Bill in Halifax and Pavel in the Eukraine who are all on line at this moment will read it, some on their phone. Travellers travel with communication today it is a necessity. The plane left 4 hours late and made no attempt to inform their clients or post on their site until about 2 hours before the scheduled departure. That meant they were still on the ground in Toronto for 1/2 hr before they considered updating their website or sending out an email, that is plain (no pun intended) ignorant, inconciderate and poor business on their behalf.

However this is probably a mute conversation as most of the people on Sunwing flights don't read this site IMO. They get off the plane get on prearranged transportation and head to All Inclusive resorts not spending a Peso in all the great establishments listed and spoken about on this web site.
