Avalando Zih Destino

It seems to be the local consensus that this is one of the better tourist seasons we've seen in many years. A shame to see it being truncated by all the fear elsewhere over a virus apparently being carried around the world by tourists themselves. Yet you'll notice no apprehension among locals as they continue to warmly welcome visitors from all over Mexico and the world.

We've got about a month and a half of tourist season left, but most foreigners will skedaddle after the first week of April as Semana Santa begins and Mexican tourists arrive by the tens of thousands. After that we'll experience the long slow season until summer vacation in July with only the weekend warriors who arrive by car and bus, many of whom won't even spend a night here. A time we all tighten our belts and hunker down, awaiting relief from the increasing heat and yearly mass fires that usually hit us hard during May until the rains begin.

This gran garza had his spot all picked out and was doing some serious fishing in Las Salinas canal this morning.

Looks like the place to be.
