Petatlán has closed its bars and cantinas. Hopefully Zihuatanejo will follow suit, though i have my doubts.

Still no local cases of COVID-19. Reports that there were have been desmentidos as FAKE NEWS, which doesn't surprise me at all. Lots of interests are looking to use this matter to score political points. IMHO the SSA is providing credible daily updates and recommendations, and the president isn't meddling in their affairs, though he did apparently reduce the price of gasoline to help offset and get ahead of the coming economic crisis. The military, hospitals and first responders are all coordinating, planning and preparing according to the SSA and the federal and state governments.

It's disheartening and unhelpful to see so many folks on here using Canadian and U.S. measuring sticks to compare and criticize Mexico's response. Mexico knows its own weaknesses better than anyone, and it knows what it has to do. But at the moment we have no contagion running through our communities. It seems most cases are still from folks coming here from abroad. So far this has been manageable and the government has been able to quarantine carriers and potential carriers. They know that won't be possible much longer once the cases get into the hundreds. Instead of measuring us by your nation's measuring stick I hope you'll follow the recommendations emitted by Mexico's government if you are here in Mexico. They provide excellent, useful and timely information on their website including regular briefings by professionals, not politicians.

Lupita held a massive giveaway yesterday in Plaza del Artista of donated school supplies for the children of one of the poorer colonias where some of the fishermen's families live. Huge thanks to the generous people who make this possible.

A child wandering vendor and his friend. We've been helping this kid for years. Smart as a whip and a real hard worker.

I guess we won't be sitting on any railings at the pier any more. Not sure even the birds will be either or that I even want to lean on these skinny little things.

The piso of the muelle is being finished.

The entrance to the pier is wider than before because they moved the pier over several meters compared to its original location.

Looks like the shade roofing is going to be white, not brown.
