Zihuatanejo woke up to a new reality this morning. Some hotels and businesses closed. Most tourists gone. Streets mostly empty. Fewer people on the beaches. The BIG SLOWDOWN has arrived. Delivery services so far doing a booming business, but it won't be long until folks start to run out of money, with all the implications that represents. Folks laid off from work over a month before they normally would have been at the end of the Semana Santa vacations. The wandering vendors will be the first to suffer from everyone leaving early.

Even the sailboats are leaving.

A fisherman tries to bring home food for his family.

Hardly a soul around. Beachfront businesses closed.

The Torneo de Pez Vela has been postponed like many other events, but we'll still have our pier soon even though there should hardly be any tourists here by then for its inauguración.
