ZIHing the Future

Ho hum. Another day of absolutely perfect weather along the Costa Grande of Guerrero. Eat your heart out! ;-)

My how quickly the world changes when you're having a good time.

Not seeing the response from our local and state governments that I had hoped for.

The mar de fondo has been hitting our coast for several days now. Some minor erosion in the bay but so far no problems that I'm aware of.

By the time our pier opens for business there will be damn little business. We sure as hell don't want to see any cruise ships here until the health contingency is over. And many hotels and restaurants are closing as a precaution. Unfortunately again today on our morning walk it was business as usual at the fishermen's market. Drunks having a party in the gazebo. No Guardia Nacional visible this morning. Tourists all bunched up and gawking, apparently oblivious to their blocking foot traffic, not respecting the safe distancing, and neither were most of the locals we saw. Not boding well.

Meanwhile Petatlán proactively announcing from megaphones on vehicles for folks to stay at home as much as possible. In stark contrast to what we're witnessing in Zihuatanejo.

Since the digitalization of the TV airwaves it seems a lot of people no longer watch the daily news, so they aren't as informed about things as they used to be. While the internet has lots of cool stuff, it is still a luxury too many people can't afford. Sometimes I really miss the 20th century.

Lots of new seating at the rebuilt pier. I really like that.
