You're pretty much missing the point, bub. Increased testing doesn't CAUSE cases of infection. The virus does that. Increased testing FINDS the cases of people already infected. That's the only way of having any chance of isolating them, tracking their contacts, and breaking the chain of transmission. It's amazing how many people still babble meaninglessly about it being pointless to test people who are not (yet) ill. That's the only way to find unsuspected infection and deal with it effectively. Testing people who are already sick is the wasteful, blind way to use supplies. This is not complicated.

Mexico’s approach has NOT been to blindly test but to confirm illnesses and trace sources when possible. It seems the epidemiologists at the Secretaría de Salud have a difference of opinion with you on the utility of blind testing. They know where the virus is when someone shows symptoms. I believe they have done an excellent job slowing the spread of the virus to buy time to prepare. Currently Mexico is reopening its economy and we expect to be able to do so responsibly.
