Watching the Web Cams I would say that the visitors on the beach are mostly locals, or at least not gringos. 90% are not wearing masks. On the Public Pier Web Cam, again I would say mostly are locals or at least they are not gringos. Again, 90% are not wearing masks. The maintenance people are and I saw a few boat captains or crews wearing them. Makes you kind of wonder about how the rest of the town is looking at Safety? I guess as long as the trend is downward, that is what matters most.

Locals are people who live here. Visitors/tourists are people who don't. It's the same here as in Katmandú. By no means are gringos or foreigners the largest part of our tourism.

People shouldn't have to wear facemasks on the beaches. The people going on boats are all together. Each boat is now private, no colectivos as before. So the people who ride a boat together have likely already been traveling if not also living together. If boat operators start getting ill then I guess they'll start requiring passengers to use masks.

The so-called Eco-Guardians and Policía Turística are who should be making sure people are respecting safe sanitary practices in public places such as the Paseo del Pescador, the shopping areas, the pier and around the beach access areas.
