Good question.
IF there were verifiable and widespread systemic voter fraud;
and IF every eligible voter was provided a free Voter ID,
then I would support it. But neither of those two IF's are - or would be - remotely true. So this is a solution in search of a problem. Republicans aren't so dumb that they don't know that. So why are they pushing it so hard? There can be only one answer and that is voter suppression, which I am against.
And BTW, we've had voter ID for over two hundred years. It's called a signature. And it's worked quite well.

I'm against voter suppression also. I want fair and legitimate elections.
BTW....in Minnesota a few years back, voter ID was on the ballot. If it would have passed, each resident would have been provided a free ID if needed. The Democrats were still against it.

Just wondering, if Canada or Mexico require ID to vote?

Yes. It’s free and easy to acquire and it is often the ONLY OFFICIAL ID many Mexicans ever have or need to show. Not the same circumstances as the USA by any measuring stick. You are pretending to want to fix something that isn’t broken because it is a GOP talking point in their endless endeavors to disenfranchise voters likely not to vote Republican.
