As of today Zihuatanejo has registered a cumulative total of 1,106 confirmed cases of Covid-19, 79 that resulted in fatalities, 36 that are currently active, and 921 that have recovered. The slight upward trend continues after over a month of a downward tendency. This is to be expected as the Covidiots are back in the bars and movie theaters. For some odd reason some people including too many tourists seem to think they no longer need to wear a facemask, but most people we know are using them religiously now as second nature. On our daily walks we tend to greet all the folks wearing facemasks while ignoring those who don't.

It was certainly odd to watch the 146th Kentucky Derby today at the end of summer. I was proud of how they paid proper respect to the protesters seeking justice for Breonna Taylor as well as social justice for minorities. We say Black Lives Matter because they seem to have forgotten to include blacks when they said WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL.

Out of nowhere it seems a tropical storm named Julio formed right on top of us. Fascinating to watch happen as all the humid air along our coast seemed to transform itself into this storm, though we've only seen a little rain so far as it moves past about 180 kilometers off our coast, but we have seen some gusty winds.

The tamales dulces from the Eco-Tianguis "Sanka" were certainly delicious this morning as was the pollo relleno from La Jaiba Feliz. So many of our local restaurants are delivering that it's often cheaper and certainly easier to just order out and have food delivered than to go through the hassle of donning facegear and showering after being out among people in the street. We are very grateful to our hardworking friends at the local restaurants who are offering take-out and delivery services. ¡MIL GRACIAS! Give them a call if you aren't sure if they're open.

Quite a few tourists out on the beach in the early morning after a rainy evening.
