Playa Blanca property advice

I live at the Barra de Potosi end of Playa Blanca, the water is fine for swimming at this end and down past the Los Achotes cut off. There are several homes available for sale at the moment all worth considering. We have built a home in Zihua and decided we were better at renovating than building. You have to speak spanish and you need to know what you are doing, as not all the contractors know what your expectations are. For exammple we interpreted the builder as asking if we wanted the pool heated, he was asking if we wanted hot water in the house. We answered whatever is normal. Big difference. As for having to have a caretaker on site, many of our neighbours leave their gardener to check on the place and have the cleaning lady go in once in awhile. We feel very safe here but we are here full time. As for going to restuarants we have our share of fine dining and our share of everyday dining and we aren't afraid to drive in to meet our Zihua friends for the odd meal. You definatly have more maintenance near the beach but it is a tradeoff.
