¡Viva Zihuatanejo!

As of today Zihuatanejo has registered a cumulative total of 1,166 confirmed cases of Covid-19, 83 that resulted in fatalities, 32 that are currently active, and 992 that have recovered. Way too many tourists are NOT wearing facemasks or practicing safe distancing. I really cannot imagine what excuse they have for not doing so, but they should be warned by local authorities because it is supposed to be mandatory. But I saw no police anywhere last evening except those escorting someone in what looked like a city vehicle.

Only heard two large skyrockets go off last night around 3:30 in the morning. Not too bad.

I found it extremely odd that the presidente and apparently lots of mayors and governors around the nation decided to have fireworks last night even though they had no public. Waste of public resources and totally unnecessary suffering for thousands of animals and those of us who really don't care for explosions. They should've spent the money on food for the hungry, of which there are plenty.

Today was another day of absolutely perfect weather. Did I mention it's my favorite time of the year?

¡Felicidades México! ¡Viva la Independencia! ¡Viva el pueblo mexicano!

Midday on Playa Principal when most everyone is enjoying siesta time, one of my very favorite traditions, and still a revered tradition in this region.
