Great news from IATA

Personally, I think that there has been evidence of discourteousness from some on both sides of this ongoing discussion. Accusations of hiding, fear, etc. are just as questionable as is blaming individuals for spreading the virus. NOBODY here is operating with perfect information. People have (hopefully) made informed decisions that they feel that are best for them and their families. Some friends and acquaintances have made a similar decision as us and have put almost all travel plans on hold, while others have weighed the risk and decided that it’s an acceptable one. As long as they follow safety protocols, I have no issue with that at all. Conversely, I expect to receive the same degree of respect for making the choice we made, and for the most part that has been the case.
There’s something about the relative anonymity inherent in Internet message boards, I guess.

The old "very fine people on both sides" argument, eh? :snicker:

My comments about fear were related to mental health. If you don't believe that worry and fear can harm your physical health and even kill you, then I urge you to read up on depression. My comments on the matter are not cavalier or condescending. They were intended to be helpful, but some folks decided I meant something I didn't. That's all I'm going to say for now. I'll repeat a very relevant Mexican saying: Si digo que el burro es pardo es porque tengo los pelos en la mano.

You are the one that keeps bringing fear into the conversation. My point of view is based on the desire to live a healthy life. Most of the visitors have a common risk factor for a severe outcome from Covid, AGE and many like myself only have that risk factor, other than the disease itself.
We have worked many years in order to live a relaxing life, and sharing with adult children and grandchildren. throwing it away in a weak unguarded moment by myself or a stranger isn't on the agenda.
