So superior

Canadians can’t come due to the 14 day they would be stuck at home on the return so they like to tell all us Americans how >wrong we are for traveling. Guess it makes them feel better.

Canadians can travel to Mexico. I’ll be there at the end of the month. Yes, we commit to the socially responsible behaviour of self-isolating for 14 days when we return to Canada. I don’t think that telling others how to behave makes a person feel better.

I do think that most people feel better about being part of a community, both enjoying the support derived from community and the contributions one can make to community. I think it was an American president who said something like, “Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask instead what you can do for your country.” I think that many Canadians think that they can do something for their country by behaving unselfishly during a pandemic.

These Canadian’s that think we are so wrong... should stay away from any vaccine that us Americans come up with.

I’m not aware of any Canadians who say that others are wrong in travelling to Mexico. I know several Canadians who have plans to do so. I know other Canadians who ordinarily would be travelling to Mexico but have made the decision that it would be unwise for them to do so at this time.

One has asthma, hypotension, and is over 70 years. Another is approaching 70 and has an autoimmune disorder. Two usually drive to Mexico in November, but won’t because of the Canada/USA border closure. Two others usually go in January but have delayed the trip until February. All of them are retired. The self-isolation is insignificant to them. It just means a couple of weeks to binge CBC Gem streaming, Netflix, and Crave-TV,

I haven’t heard any of them criticize those who made the opposite decision.

(I also know a couple who spend six to eight weeks in Arizona each winter. They plan to pass on the trip this year partly because of covid. The other reason they give is that they would not plan travel to any country where the incumbent president refuses to state they will have a peaceful transition of power if certified election results say they did not win.)

... should stay away from any vaccine that us Americans come up with.

Medical research on this issue is international and collaborative. No one, Americans, Canadians, British, Chinese, or others will be coming up with a vaccine. Vaccines may be developed somewhere, but the vaccine will not be due to exclusivity of work there. I am confident that any effective and cost-effective vaccine will be used internationally, regardless of the location of the lab where it was developed. Yes, even if that lab were in China.

So funny that some believe they are so superior by staying home and hiding. What are you doing to help our poor Mexican friends?

Who is it that seems to believe “they are so superior”?

I don’t understand the benefit of apparently attempting to deliberately offend.

As much as I dislike them, I'll have to give you a :megusta:

If Craig AKA the cruise ship guy is so damned brave, he'll live up to his name and book a floating Petri dish for his next trip to Zihua.
