Foreign News Sources

Yes, and I wonder how many UnitedStaters read foreign language newspapers as a source for local information. Damn few I would expect.

My Spanish is nowhere near good enough to read Spanish-language newspapers, although I do try sometimes with the Google translator. I simply adore going to cbc.ca and reading Canada's take on the U.S. My wife's best friend lives in Toronto and she keeps asking my wife, "What has happened to the United States?! What is going on in your country?! How stupid can your people be?!" (They talk frequently. My wife lived in Toronto for nine years and still has friends and family there.)

There is a disturbing article today in the Washington Post that discussed the reactions and behaviors of people during the black plague epidemics of the Middle Ages and our modern behavior. They are remarkably similar.

Science matters, Friends. Or at least it used to in the United States.
