As of today Zihuatanejo has registered a cumulative total of 1,490 confirmed cases of Covid-19 (1 more than yesterday), 111 that resulted in fatalities, 4 that are currently active, and approximately 1,276 that have recovered. We appear to be doing something right and keeping the curve flat.

LOVE the restrictions on bars and the semi-curfew at night on vehicles. Downtown is back to being a peaceful and relaxing place where we can enjoy a good night's rest again. A good time for visitors to stay at our downtown lodgings!

It truly is heartbreaking to see how much more beach we are losing to this questionable "remodeling" project. No one from the local government seems to have consulted with any of the neighbors. Certainly not with us. This is not a project any of us clamored for. It is being imposed on us. With everyone distracted by the damn pandemia, it seems to be flying under the radar of most people who live here, and you'd be surprised how few of Zihuatanejo's residents actually frequent the downtown beach even during normal times.

And while over two meters of beach is being paved over with cement, we still have sea turtles trying to lay eggs in what's left of the downtown beach. Thanks to the Marinos for looking out for them and removing their eggs to a safe location to incubate in the sand. Sorry for the terrible quality of the photo, but the lighting was poor and I had a dog with me so I couldn't get any closer, and the telephoto on my iPhone leaves a lot to be desired.
