ZIHelo Despejado

As of today Zihuatanejo has registered a cumulative total of 1,491 confirmed cases of Covid-19 (1 more than yesterday) since its first case on April 13th, 112 that have resulted in fatalities, 1 that is currently active, and approximately 1,277 that have recovered.

Zihuatanejo is full of tourists right now, many who are not wearing facemasks so we are still mostly staying at home as other locals should be doing. The police are driving around and when they encounter someone without a facemask, which is obligatorio right now, they warn them with their loudspeaker. Of course everyone then shouts at the poor maskless person to put on their facemask. It seems to be having the desired effect, but there are so many tourists arriving dragging their luggage and coolers around that it's hard to keep up with them all. Monday is the official holiday for Día de la Revolución (don't know why they didn't just leave it for Friday the 20th, the actual day), so they have a long weekend to enjoy our perfect weather. I do believe the parade has been cancelled which personally I don't mind one bit.

Now would be a good time to be staying in Troncones away from all the crowds.

Another cloudless morning on the downtown beach. Extra points for whoever can name the two types of trees in the foreground to the right. ;-)
