Enamorado con Una ZIHrena

As of today Zihuatanejo has registered a cumulative total of 1,505 confirmed cases of Covid-19 (2 more than yesterday), 118 that have resulted in fatalities. My other data sources haven't been updated so I don't know how many active cases or approximate recoveries there are. It does appear that many locals are using facemasks but not so many tourists. More testing is being done than before in some Mexican cities, so case numbers are going up. Querétaro and CDMX have some saturated hospitals, but as far as I know we're still okay locally as well as in most of the nation. Acapulco is having difficulties, but the Costa Grande seems to be doing okay. If you travel the road between here and Acapulco you'll see all the vendors in the small villages along the way who sell fruits, cocos, hamacas and sea salt all wearing facemasks. Even the folks in Petatlán and Coyuca de Benitez seem to be mostly wearing facemasks the times I've passed through there recently.

Downtown bars are still closing at 11:00 PM, so residents and visitors at any downtown posadas are enjoying peaceful nights. Hopefully it will stay like this. Let the late night bars have their Zona de Tolerancia outside of the Centro or even in Ixtapa, though they should be enclosed spaces only so that neighbors are not affected by the noise.

It looks like the construction project of our waterfront and its plazas is going to drag on through the holidays, hurting what little tourism with spending power that we get, because frankly no one wants to dine or shop in a construction zone. Gee, thank you Mr. Mayor! We love all the dust and noise... NOT! Bummer. If it weren't for politicians... [fill in the blanks]

Our perfect weather continues. Man oh man are we lucky!

Thanks to these hard working folks for helping to keep many of us fed!
