As of today Zihuatanejo has registered a cumulative total of 1,622 confirmed cases of Covid-19 (twenty-two more than yesterday), 132 that have resulted in fatalities, 14 that are currently active, and approximately 1,370 that have recovered. Here we go. The Navidad spike begins. Remember, these numbers reflect testing that was done at least three to five days ago, the time it takes for results to come back to Zihuatanejo from wherever they're sent.

So now that the high season vacation period is over and some influyentes got to open their bars for longer hours and fill their hotels a little more, we're back to Semáforo Naranja. With so many exceptions and modifications a la medida there's no telling what that means anymore, but we'll see what they come up with in the next few days since the Governor sort of left that part out of his pronouncement today. Hopefully it means less hours for noisy bars to stay open at night.

The cool nighttime temps that were so refreshing a few days ago seem to have fled. We're back to open windows all night, fan on low, and a single sheet for sleeping under. Darn! Thought I was actually going to get to use my favorite serape this year. B-)

If you'd like to discover new things in our region or enjoy old ones like fishing, surfing, diving, snorkeling or whalewatching be sure to take advantage of the people and services I recommend. Especially if you want to enjoy a quiet relaxing day at Playa Manzanillo snorkeling among some of our local most unique marine environments because it will be gone soon when the monster high-rise hotel gets built on that beach, a beach area that should've been protected from development, not divvied up among influyentes.
