If you compare it with photos taken immediately after the completion of the "remodelación" of the walkway between the museum and Playa La Madera, you can't help but notice that ALL the plants the government spent a small fortune to place along the walkway have died including beside La Boquita canal, and apparently they didn't pack down the earth in this wall beside the canal because a huge hole has formed on the inside of the wall. This is why I don't buy the crap the city government is trying to sell us about replanting trees they've removed from the garden park in front of our home, and why I laugh at any suggestion of the government planting anything. I recall when 5 or 6 coconut palms were planted at the zócalo after one of the "remodelaciones" a few mayors back. You'd think a tourist town in the region known as the #1 producer of coconut palms in Mexico could grow a few coconut palms in their main plaza. Nope. Not one of them survived.
