What if you test positive?

Hola. What about us Canadians who left Canada in October before any of these restrictions were in place? We had no warning these conditions would be placed on us. When they were imposed, we couldn't get home because all the flights were cancelled. The only restriction for us on our return was that we had to quarantine for 14 days.

We have had plenty of time to make plans.

“Air travellers landing in Canada will have to quarantine in a hotel, at their own expense, starting Feb. 22, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced Friday, as the federal government tries to curb the spread of the new, more transmissible variants of the COVID-19 virus.

“The enforcement date comes two weeks after the federal government said air travellers returning from non-essential trips abroad will have to isolate in a federally mandated facility for up to 72 hours while they await the results of a polymerase chain reaction test, commonly known as a PCR test.”

I travelled to Zihuatanejo from Canadá in October/December 2020. When I left, I knew I was taking a risk. I did a risk:benefit assessment and experienced the consequences.

I plan to do the same in 2021. Canadians in Mexico have had lots of opportunities to do risk management.
