Dehumidifiers other suggestions

We agree with you Rob. On the very few cabinets that have doors on them, our wonderful carpenter made a point of explaining to us why they had to have slatted fronts, not solid. Maybe when you aren't around you could leave cabinet doors open for air flow.

We have ceiling fans running regularly. Consider leaving them running when you aren't there. Most of the modern ones are very energy efficient.

Windows. Ours are open, with one very rare exception, fully, and left that way all of the time. During a hard, wind driven rain we have to close our three big sliders down to about 2 feet, then put a large towel in front of the opening on the tile floor to catch the flood. Better three soaked towels than a flooded second floor, and we still have air flow. You are bound to have a window or three that you can safely leave open when you aren't there.

Or, even better, just move here full time!

WORKIN ON IT half time, anyway
