As of today, since April 18, 2020 Zihuatanejo has registered a cumulative total of 2,197 confirmed cases of Covid-19 (4 more than yesterday), 180 that have resulted in fatalities, 27 that are currently active, and approximately 1,848 that have recovered. Numbers appear to be holding steady. There are currently no active cases registered in La Unión (Troncones) or Petatlán.

Several more tall old palm trees, some almendra trees and a sizable ficus tree are among the recent casualties in the effort by the local government to cover the beachfront area and its gardens with as much cement as possible. The beachfront restaurants including Daniel's, Tata's and Casa Arcadia have lost a considerable portion of their restaurant area, and will either have to get by with reduced areas or move closer to the water. Not good for anyone except the guy selling all the cement. Yes, they are planting some small palm trees on the beach and in the plazas, but that's like being responsible for a massacre and expecting to be forgiven by bringing other children into the picture.

For those who listen to the morning radio talk show Zona Libre, I heard from my friend Sergio Vázquez after his relapse, and he says he is on the mend again and very grateful for all the messages.

Families of tourists are arriving for Semana Santa. This family looks to be enjoying their front row spot on the beach.
