We have seen absolutely no dog or human damage this season. Last year we saw one case of humans collecting eggs, but the "gentlemen walkers" from La Arena shut them down very quickly.

We don't have dogs on the beach that we see, or see their tracks, there is so much area that has more to eat and hide in off the beach is our thought.

I think it's safe to say that most of the nests are successful.

A month or so ago a structure was build at the south end of the beach between La Perla and La Arena by the lifeguard tower. This is the area where they used to rent tables, chairs and shade. The beach trash cleaners seem to be the ones who dig up the eggs and take them down there.

We had one of the more boss like types snag us and tell us all about it a couple of mornings ago and said that they already had 19,000 eggs and were expecting the first round of babies to be released on August 29. They also still take eggs to The Catalina and I think he said Embarc too.
