Fifty years ago today marked the beginning El Festival Rock y Ruedas de Avándaro where over 150,000 people got together for 2 days of incredible music and an abundance of peace and love. There are all kinds of tributes and documentaries in the Mexican media this weekend commemorating this historical and wonderful event if anyone is interested.

Three new cases of Covid-19 were reported in Zihuatanejo today making the total number of currently active cases 99. Still no word on vaccines. I expect this week we'll get word if not vaccines locally.

There aren't as many tourists this weekend as there were last weekend, at least it doesn't appear like there are from what we've seen. Streets and beaches seem empty and the town seems relatively quiet despite a few noisy establishments that apparently can't help themselves.

Ugly construction by the local government continues along the downtown waterfront. Extremely disrespectful to locals and established businesses, but our city government seems not to care in the least. They just want to pour as much cement as possible. The mayor owns a cement company. Think there's a relation there?

The week ahead looks like it could be a stormy one for our region. If you are here, stay alert and keep your eye on the local weather.

The waterfront walkway near Playa La Madera is always a scenic place to enjoy the sunrise.
