State health authorities report 48 currently active cases of Covid-19 in Zihuatanejo, 1 in Petatlán and 0 in La Unión. Cases are appearing all up and down the coast, and Acapulco is registering alarming numbers again with 472 active cases. Guerrero currently registers 30.5 active cases for every 100,000 inhabitants, up considerably from just a few days ago. I expect Guerrero will be back to Semáforo Amarillo relatively soon as are many other states. But at least some booster shots and vaccinations for rezagados are finally becoming available in the state, though my wife and I aren't thrilled that our booster shots will probably be AstraZeneca instead of Pfizer. Perhaps if more people speak up we can get the Delegado de Bienestar for Guerrero, Iván Hernández Díaz, to change his plan.

More and more middle class Mexican vacationers are showing up. These and our foreign visitors are whom we need. Charter captains and tour guides are doing a decent business, and many restaurants around town, not just the inexpensive ones, are also doing a good business in spite of this damned pandemia. Let's hope it all doesn't come to an end with another lockdown. I'm still seeing lots of people making plans to vacation here and asking about lodgings on the social media. Keeping fingers crossed.

Although it continues to be warm and sunny during the daytime, a sheet was definitely necessary to sleep under last night. I thought it was going to snow this morning. Had to snuggle with my sweetie because the temperature got down to about 20°C. Brrrr! B-)

Be sure to get out on the water while you're here. See the whales, snorkel at La Isla or Playa Manzanillo or Los Morros de Potosí. Visit the archaeological ruins and see the artifacts at La Chole. Discover some of our local magic.
