The mayor of Zihuatanejo de Azueta Jorge Sánchez Allec, announced that the municipality could soon receive the first direct flight of tourism from Europe, after that connection route was canceled for many years in the port of Acapulco.

The mayor participated as a guest in the "Grupo Aca", where he offered his presentation on how his municipality has come out of backwardness and is listed as the second most important city in the country, after San Pedro Garza García in Nuevo León, and for this he had to order the house in all aspects.

Sánchez Allec, stressed that they are working on the issue of connectivity with Europe to reach the level of the United States and commented that after the Tourism Tianguis they will take 400 tour operators, as well as 150 agents from Colombia to do promotional work and know the destinations of the municipality.

He also said that the Parthenon tourism project will be made an investment of six to eight million pesos so that it is reactivated and is a tourist product and a cultural reference.

Finally, the municipal president explained that more than 700 works have been carried out both in tourism development and in the popular neighborhoods, of which 30 percent of the budget is allocated to the tourism sector and 70 percent to the neighborhoods and communities that make up the municipality.

An amazing amount of cement has been and will continue to be poured to complete more no-bid public projects. Guess who owns a cement business?

And I am not the least bit surprised that a politician from the PRI party would want to "remodel" and restore a local monument to PRI corruption.

But hey, at least we have water.

I claim no psychic powers or great expertise in tourism other than about 50 years living and working in tourist destinations, but I predict any flight from Europe to Zihuatanejo will not be sustainable. I'd hate to think the local government is rather pathetically trying to justify the Blue Flag "beach certification" that is growing more unpopular, because the only tourists it means anything to are Europeans. Ya think? Nah! Maybe... :-o
